Create a new toolbar to keep your personal macros organized (Microsoft Excel 97/2000/2002/v. X/2003)

Once you start using macros on a daily basis, they can start snowballing into a big, unorganized mess. And it doesn't help that there are several ways you can run a macro (toolbar buttons, shortcut keys, through the Macros dialog box, etc.). It might be easier if you have them all on one toolbar. This also makes it more convenient to display or hide the macros just by viewing or hiding the toolbar where you store them.

To create a new toolbar, just choose Tools | Customize from the menu bar. Then, in the Customize dialog box, click on the Toolbars tab, if necessary, and click the New button. In the New Toolbar window, enter a name for the toolbar in the Toolbar Name text box and click OK. The toolbar is added to the Toolbars list box in the Customize dialog box and it displays as an empty toolbar.

From here, you only need to click on the Commands tab in the same dialog box, scroll down the Categories list box, and select Macros. In the Commands list box, you can then click and drag the Custom Button selection to your new toolbar. Once the button is added to the toolbar, right-click ([control]-click in v. X) on the button and choose Assign Macro from the shortcut menu to access the Assign Macro dialog box. Choose a macro from the list box and click OK. Now, just add as many buttons to your new toolbar as necessary to include any macros you wish.
