Target a specific page by using PDF page import options

When importing an Adobe PDF document as a graphic into a picture box in QuarkXPress, there’s an option specifically created for PDF import that is often overlooked. However, it’s one every QuarkXPress user should know as it ensures the correct page is imported.

To access the PDF import option:

  1. Draw a picture box using one of the Picture Box tools.
  2. Choose File > Get Picture (Import Picture in version 7) to display the Get (Import) Picture dialog box.
  3. Navigate to the PDF file that contains the page you wish to import as a graphic into your QuarkXPress layout and select the file.
  4. Enter the page number you’d like to import in the PDF Page text box at the bottom of the dialog box.
  5. Click on the filename to update the thumbnail preview to ensure the correct page.
  6. Click Open.
