Using your own sound effects in Microsoft PowerPoint slides (2003/2007)

If you have a WAV file available on your computer, you can use it as an animation sound effect in PowerPoint. To do this, first launch PowerPoint and open an existing presentation that contains animation. Next, navigate to a slide that has several animated objects and choose Slide Show | Custom Animation to open the Custom Animation task pane. (In PowerPoint 2007, go to the Animations tab. Click the Custom Animation button in the Animations group to open the Custom Animation task pane.)

At this point, click on the dropdown list corresponding with the animation that you want to add sound to in the Custom Animation task pane. Choose Effect Options from the dropdown list. In the effect's dialog box, go to the Effect tab and choose Other Sound from the Sound dropdown list. Navigate to your WAV file in the Add Sound dialog box, select the Wav file, and then click OK.

To test your sound effect during the slide show, choose Slide Show | View Show, press [F5], or click the Slide Show view button to launch your presentation. Next, run through your slides. When the object that you applied a sound effect to is displayed, the sound plays.
