Publishing Joomla Static Pages

Static pages are not published automatically on the home page. This is because static pages don’t require modifications to be made regularly. There are two ways that you can make static pages visible in your Joomla site. You can either create a menu item or an internal link within a Joomla article.

A Menu item is used to display the type of page when a user selected a choice within the Menu. It can be an installed Joomla! component, a content element, a link to an external website, or many other things.

To create a Menu Item:
  1. Logon to the Joomla backend Administrator Panel.
  2. Go to Menus tab, then Menu Manager.
  3. Choose the desired menu where you want the Menu Item to display. Click Edit Menu Item(s) under the Menu Item column.
  4. You will see the Menu Item Manager. Click New to create a menu item.
  5. For the Menu Item Type, select Articles > Article Layout.
  6. Enter a Title. This serves as the name of the Menu Item.
  7. Under Parameters (Basic), select the static page you created (e.g. Contact Us).
  8. Click Save.

For an Internal link within a Joomla article:
The standard Joomla package doesn't come with this functionality. If you wish to link another Joomla article within the post you are currently working on, you need to install a Joomla extension.

How to do this:
  1. Install Linkr extension which you can download at http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/structure-a-navigation/site-links/4010. This is a content plugin used in adding internal links to your articles.
  2. When installed successfully, go to Plugin Manager and activate the Editor Button - Linkr.
  3. Once activated, you see the Linkr button at the lower portion of the text editor. It allows you now to select which article you would like to display.
