Adjust font, style, and size without dragging your mouse (2003/2007/2010)

Chances are you abandoned the Bold, Italic, and Underline buttons on the Formatting toolbar long ago for their respective shortcuts: [Ctrl]B, [Ctrl]I, and [Ctrl]U. To crank up your efficiency even more, why not add the Style, Font, and Font Size shortcuts to your repertoire?

To change the style using a keyboard shortcut:

  1. Ensure that the Formatting toolbar is displayed.
  2. Select the text you’d like to change. If you’re changing a paragraph style, simply place the insertion point in the paragraph you want to change.
  3. Press [Ctrl][Shift]S. The contents of the Style dropdown list are highlighted.
  4. Type the name of the style you want to switch to.
  5. Press [Enter] to update your style.
You can follow a similar approach to change the font and font size using these shortcuts:
  • Style    [Ctrl][Shift]S
  • Font    [Ctrl][Shift]F
  • Font Size    [Ctrl][Shift]P
